A Common Problem Overlooked By Moms During Camp Season

April 25th, 2011

camp-labels-blogA Common Problem Overlooked By Moms During Camp Season

Why Labeling Your Child’s Belongings Is More Important Than Ever

With school ending and camp and swim-school season beginning, it’s a hectic and stressful time of year for parents. Organizing and packing properly for childrens’ daily or extended pilgrimage can be maddening. And because labeling is often overlooked, the millions of personal effects (clothes, electronics, camping equipment, etc) that wind up in lost-and-founds nationally is staggering.

The good news is that ID Me Labels, a New Jersey-based company, has established itself as a leader in the field of the waterproof labeling of practically anything to help prevent loss and theft of childrens’ belongings.

Anne Pham, co-owner of ID Me Labels, started out of necessity. “My husband’s publishing and design firm had the equipment in-house to generate vinyl labels for our toddlers’ clothes, toys, and sippy cups at daycare, and I was astonished at how well everything held up in the dishwasher, microwave and laundry,” Ms. Pham explained. “We discovered this perfect solution serendipitously, and I became obsessed with helping other parents, and thus, our crusade to label was born.”

Thanks to Pham’s efforts, and labeling in general, many daycare facilities, schools, and camps have noticed a considerable drop in loss and confusion. ID Me offers a variety of fun, high design kid’s labels in various sizes, shapes, and colors to help children, parents, care providers, and teachers quickly and easily identify what belongs to whom. Simple to use and easy to apply, the Ultimate Camp Labels Pack, for example, provides a generous assortment of water-proof and laundry-safe labels for use on flashlights, thermoses, toiletries, electronics, clothes, and almost any surface imaginable. Each year, more than 8 million kids attend summer camp and the last thing any parent wants to discover is that an iPod, backpack, camera, cellphone, or favorite shirt is lost forever. In addition, Pham did not overlook the critical importance of allergy awareness labels to protect children.

Beyond the vinyl offering, ID Me’s proprietary line of durable, fabric-based Stick-On Clothing labels—no ironing or dreaded sewing required!—sets them apart from competitors, and adhere to the spectrum of garments.

Welcome Home Baby Chicks!

April 10th, 2011

So I finally caved in and agreed with my husband to raise chickens on our farm. We already have four horses to take care of so the idea of having to raise one or in this case TEN more farm animals can be quite daunting. Luckily, the chickens from what I’ve been told are not as needy as other farm animals (coming from our neighbor who has a 12 acre farm). Let’s hope my neighbor  is correct on this or else I will have to return these cute baby chicks! By late spring the chicks are expected to lay eggs, a wonderful alternative to buying them at the supermarket. Wish us luck on our attempt to organic living. Here is Olivia, helping dad create a new home for the baby chicks.

If you have any suggestions or advice to raising healthy chickens, I would love to know. Please email me at [email protected] or leave a comment here.

Miss Kat Take On I.D. Me Name Labels!

April 7th, 2011

Mommy Kat and Kids button

We asked mommy blogger Kat, over at Mommy Kat and Kids her thoughts on I.D. Me Labels and this is what she had to say.

Over the last year, I have had the chance to test out so many beautiful name labels for my oldest son’s possessions. But I sometimes forget that Zackary isn’t the only one with items that can be lost, forgotten or misplaced. Benjamin has a bit of a mischievous streak for an eighteen-month-old and his tendency to hide his things has resulted in forgotten items more than once already. Babies and toddlers often need different types of labels than older children, so when I received the chance to review one of the wonderful Daycare Labels Combo Packs from I.D. Me Labels, I knew that they were just what I needed for my baby boy.

I chose green labels with a racecar icon for Benjamin. The Daycare Label set I received came with All-Purpose Icon Labels, Binky/Bib Buttons, Streamline Labels, Sole Mate Labels, Stick-On Clothing Labels and a blank bag tag. I couldn’t wait to test out some of the adorable dishwasher and microwave-safe labels on Benjamin’s possessions!

The first items I decided to label were Benjamin’s sippy cups. He has a very frustrating habit of hiding his cups in the strangest places so that when he wants a drink, I can never find a cup to give him. Once, I found a cup behind the couch. Another time, his cup was shoved into the bottom of his folded stroller in our porch. On one particularly memorable occasion, he hid a cup in his dad’s work boot. With his track record, I know that it’s just a matter of time before he hides one of his cups when we’re out of the house. I applied the labels to every one of Benjamin’s four sippy cups and I loved how cute the labels looked when they were applied. The labels still look like new after three weeks of washing, and when Benjamin is playing with other babies, the labels make it so easy to identify his cup!

The Cloth Diaper Report on I.D. Me Kids Labels

April 5th, 2011

Read what Emi from The Cloth Diaper Report has to say about I.D. Me Kids Labels.

So I registered my little guy for the military post hourly care program on Friday, which also enrolls him to be eligible to participate in swim lessons or other activities the Child Youth Services on base provide (we hope to start the kids in swim lessons this summer!). Granted I don’t have any plans on putting him in hourly care quite yet, I needed to renew my daughter’s yearly enrollment and it’ll be easier just to have them on the same renewal cycle. It’s also nice to have a back-up in case I need to find care for him and I don’t have any friends available to help out. Once sister starts preschool in the fall he may go to hourly care one morning a week so I can get some work done, he can socialize and all that fun stuff so this review came at a good time.

Whether your kids go to hourly care, daycare, school, camp, the nursery at church or to a friend’s house there are a million things from sippy cups to back packs that are bound to get left behind or mixed up with someone else’s. Writing in permanent marker can bleed or make if harder to pass the items on after your little ones have outgrown them, and those white label stickers fall off or need to be removed in the wash. I customized these for my son and have used the to label his pacifier, blankets and swipe card for the daycare and other activities (so we don’t get the key tag mixed up with sister’s). I have refrained from putting them on his clothes or other baby gear quite yet as he will inevitably outgrow his current clothing size before we have any planned trips away from mom. I was, however, able to test the clothing labels in the wash on his blankets and the waterproof nature of the other stickers on his pacifier.

Abby Approved Review on I.D. Me Kids Labels

April 1st, 2011

Here’s what Abby over at Abby’s Approved Blog had to say about I.D. Me Labels.

Next year I will be back to work, and that means that my kids will be back to daycare.  I know one little man that is thrilled about going to “school” next year!  One problem that we had in the past was keeping track of all of his stuff at daycare.  In addition to an extra change of clothes he also needs a coat, hat, mittens, boots!   That is a lot of stuff for a 3 year old (and his teachers) to keep track of.  In the past we always made a point of writing his name on the tags of clothing that he brought to daycare but some clothing does not have labels (which is great for avoiding itchy tag syndrome, not so great for moms wanting to label clothes).  We now have a perfect solution to this problem-School Labels from I.D. Me Labels!

I.D. Me Labels makes a huge assortment of labels so you can quickly and easily label everything that your kids need to take to school, daycare, camp or anywhere else they are headed!  I.D. Me Labels come in a variety of sizes so you will have the perfect label for every item.  They carry labels that are perfect for labeling your child’s clothing, shoes, sippy cup or bottle, pacifier, lunchbox, school tools, backpack and more!  In addition they are waterproof, dishwasher, microwave and laundry safe so you don’t have to worry about reapplying!
